Invitation to “Encompassing the Equinox”
You are warmly invited to attend our Zoom gathering, which will take place at the exact moment of the Equinox. It is a simultaneous moment of balance all around the globe, where the Earth finds its balancing minute – precisely halfway between the summer and the winter solstices. Our theme for our Zoom gathering is “Encompassing the Equinox” and we will be holding this moment of full balance together, from all around the globe.
This year, the Equinox takes place on the 22nd day of the month of September at 44 minutes after the hour. I love numbers and I know I wanted to celebrate this auspicious time. I am so glad to be working with three assistants (Seungkyo Jung from Korea, Elina Sargysan from Armenia living in Minnesota, and Andrea Hanson who grew up in Hong Kong and is a Senior at St. Olaf in Minnesota). When discussing our project earlier this year, they came up with the idea that the 44 dancers would send in their 44-second dance videos ahead of time, and that on the actual Equinox, we would show the premiere, and have discussions about how we find balance in our lives.
